Steam Desorption

Steam desorption is a method where low pressure dry steam is fed into a bed of activated carbon that is saturated with solvent. The steam drives the desorbed solvent away and they are then separated. With this process, the solvent can often be returned to be reused for its original purpose immediately with no further treatment needed. It’s a versatile and cost-effective choice.

Inert Gas Desorption

Some solvents are more susceptible to degradation at higher temperatures or for azeotropes in air or water. If this is the case, inert gas adsorption is used. Here the reactivity of the solvent is controlled, and the recovery rate of high-quality adsorbate is optimised.

Hot Air Regeneration

Hot air regeneration is a newer process than other methods. Its purpose is to generate energy which can be used later in the factory’s processes, rather than recovering a reusable solvent. This method uses activated carbon to provide energy (in the form of heat or other power) to the rest of the factory.
